Department for Education (DfE) bursaries

The DfE can support you in funding your PGCE studies if you meet certain criteria. This funding is designed to contribute to living costs. It is paid in instalments throughout your course. Find out more at Get Into Teaching: Bursaries and funding.

Faculty of Humanities Alumni Award 

The Alumni Scholarship offers eligible applicants a £1,000 cash bursary. It supports applicants who wish to progress to a PGCE and: 

• are University of Manchester graduates;
• are international, EU or home students;
• are applying within three years of receiving their degree;
• have received a First Class honours degree.

You do not need to apply for this scholarship. You will be considered on the basis of your application for the course. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be awarded the bursary automatically.
