Undergraduate
We offer cash bursaries of up to £2,500 for Geography in addition to other student finance available.
Eligible students can also apply for the Geospatial Scholarship Fund, an award of £30,000.
Geography Bursary
We're committed to widening participation. We offer a £500 cash bursary to students eligible for a reduced-grade contextual offer.
This bursary will aid students with some of the costs of getting started at university. This could include textbooks and travel expenses.
Courses eligible for this award
Herbertson Geography Award
Offer holders with predicted grades of AAA or above (or equivalent) can apply for a Herbertson Geography Award.
Five successful candidates will receive the £2,000 award in three installments, during their first year, as follows:
- December 2025 - £500;
- February 2026 - £1,000;
- April 2026 - £500.
Successful candidates will be selected on the basis of:
- their academic performance;
- the submission of a 500-word statement outlining their motivation for studying their subject.

The Geospatial Scholarship Fund
The Geospatial Scholarship Fund has been established by Black Geographers and Esri UK to encourage and support Black African, Caribbean, Black, or mixed Black heritage students in the study of geography and geoscience in UK universities.
An undergraduate and a master’s award will be made every academic year.
The undergraduate award of £30,000 can be spent on fees or maintenance.
